Skirt: red herring @ debenhams - shirt: topshop - cap: asos - backpack: primark - trianers: nike @ office
Photographs by Megan Ward

I've found myself drawn to anything pleated lately.

Flowy pleated skirts (midi, maxi or bum skimming minis) with oversized knits will be my A/W uniform. However, I'm a little unsure how I'll achieve this without seeming repetitive . . . that said, a band tee and a biker jacket might work equally well.

What will you be wearing this season?

dress: oh my love - tee: topshop - boots: Dr martens - bag: primark - sunglasses: eBay

A few weeks back the lovely Elizabeth of Style fruits UK asked if I would like to take part in their "Pastel me pretty" blogger competition. As you can probably guess from the title, entrants were required to submit a look with a pastel theme, which is a daunting task for a gal who cringes at anything super girly! But I accepted the challenge, and when I spied this Oh my love slip dress in the topshop sale I knew I found the perfect garment! Pastel, but with the flexibility to grunge it up a little! And here you have it! My translation of "pastel me pretty".

BUT with uni sucking the (social) life outta me this past few weeks my entry is quite late and I've a lot of catching up to do in the voting! So if you like this look then please be a darling and vote for me HERE!

Thank ya!

Camel coat and flats

Coat: H&M - jeans: topshop - sweater: zara - shoes: matalan (kids section) - bag & beanie: primark
Phototgraphs by Megan Ward

I picked up these cool little loafers from the children's section at Matalan a few weeks back (one of the benefits of having small feet!), and it got me thinking on how my interest in flat shoes has been rapidly growing over these past few months. And it appears that I'm not the only person to have taken heed, the who's who of street style blogging have also been dabbling in this trend.

Could it be that the fashion industry has given the high heel the boot, making comfort paramount over aesthetic? . . . maybe not entirely. But the popularity of street style and fashion from the perspective of real people with the need for practicality has certainly been a key aspect in this transition, which is one that I welcome with open arms.

Woohoo for comfy shoes!!

Jersey t-shirt dress

Dress/bag: primark - shirt: topshop - hat: river island - boots: Emma Cook for topshop
Photographs by Megan Ward

You may have noticed that I have the tendency to pair A seemingly sporty piece with something much less sporty (AKA 5 inch heels). Maybe I'm trying to be rebellious or perhaps I just like the juxtaposition of an unlikely pairing . . . even at the risk of looking like an absolute prat. Which I'll admit, I've been successful of on more than one occasion. But the less said about that, the better.

Moving on . . . I chose to give this look a little somthin, somthin by adding a veiled beanie. Yes I know it has been done already by the blogosphere glitterati and more, but the tulle was just so cheap and being the bargain hunter that I am I couldn't resist!

P.s I was thinking of doing a quick DIY tutorial on how to veil a beanie. Is that something you'd be interested in seeing?

Rule of thumb

Dress: topshop - jacket: new look - boots: Emma cook for topshop - hat and bag: primark

It's been quite a strange and confusing time here in Ireland, for the past six or so days, there's been this unusual round thing in the sky. It's very hot and appears to have given everyone this lobster-esque glow . . . unusual it may be, but it makes for great dress wearing conditions . . . So I pulled out this topshop ditsy floral dress that I blogged a few weeks back (here), and put a different spin on it using this sleeveless khaki jacket from new look.

In the world of fashion/street style blogging, seeing the same thing twice is unheard of, but ain't no student/mum got money for that shiz! So re-styling and cost per wear are important to me when making a purchase. If it can only be worn one way, then chances are it ain't in my wardrobe.

Do you have a rule of thumb when making a purchase? If so, I'd like to hear it :)

Walk the line

Dress: Barbara hulanicki for topshop - shirt: topshop - boots: Emma Cook for topshop - bag & hat: primark - DIY leg garter (was a primark headband)

Hello. My name is Laura and I am a topshop addict . . .

So the not so secret secrets out. I have a topshop abuse problem. My friends (you know who you are) literally refuse to go into the store with me because I could happily spend days in there sighing at all the beautiful things.

My dress and boots are designer for topshop. I recently acquired these boots (in black - I have the white also) after searching for them since they were released in 2009. I was a girl on a shoe mission but being as gorgeous as they are, they were selling for ridiculous money on e(vil)bay. But I waited and waited and finally snagged them from some unknowing soul for £20!! This person clearly had no idea what they were selling . . . I love when that happens (insert evil laugh).

Hope you like x x x

P.s my little leg garter was previously a headband from primark. I took a pair of scissors and a needle and thread to it and voila!
